Mel Wins on Big Max
Teams of 4 – Winter League round 4.
Anglers participating were greeted with a hard frost and lakes only just free from forming ice. The fishery was also covered with a low lying fog that would remain for the entire day. At the draw each team captain dipped into the draw bag, with no one wanting to draw Big Max. Big Max is a fantastic lake, however it can be a tricky lake to master during the winter time. The resident carp can often just shut up shop and refuse to feed.
Mel started the match on the feeder but after a number of big liners, decided to focus his attentions on fishing the pole. Baits ranged from maggots, soft pellets, hard pellets and corn. Each bait having limited success at various times throughout the day. Mel continued to rotate his lines and produced a match winning weight of 48lbs 05oz.
Well done Melvin
